Assess functional impairment, independent living skills, and appropriate vocational and residential placement for children, adolescents, and adults with physical, mental, or developmental disabilities. Originally published in 1983, Street Survival Skills Questionnaire (SSSQ) is an individually administered performance scale updated with new pictorial stimuli.
Nine Behavior Areas
SSSQ assesses nine specific areas relating to adaptive behavior. Test items are designed to closely resemble the tasks involved in everyday living.
The examiner orally presents a question, and the individual responds by pointing to one of four pictures presented on a page.
For children, the SSSQ provides an estimate of everyday living skills and functional disability. For older adolescents and adults, the SSSQ indicates their ability to live independently within the community and an expected level of vocational placement.
Curriculum Guides for SSSQ provide objectives, materials, suggested performance criteria, teaching strategies, and specific activities for each of the items in all nine content areas.
