Neuropsychological Impairment Scale (NIS)
Overview: A brief, self-report test that helps screen adults for neuropsychological symptoms
Age Range: Individuals over 17 years old
Completion Time: Approx. 15–20 minutes
The NIS assessment can help elicit diagnostically relevant information that patients often fail to mention in a clinical interview.
- An alternative version of the assessment, the observer report, can be completed by a relative orclose friend of the patient, providing a different perspective on the patient’s symptoms.
- The test also offers the Senior Interview version—40 questions read by the examiner—with thepatient indicating responses on a large-print visual cue card.
