Area of greatest challenge and/or opportunity facing clinicians today:
I see one of our greatest opportunities as being linked to a challenge. The opportunity is that we have relatively easy access to so much more information to help us become even better clinicians. However, I think the challenge comes in finding the time to keep up with that information, as well as evaluate it critically. Sometimes, extreme positions are presented in our filed as if there are no plausible alternatives. However, if the questions are asked or analyzed in a slightly different manner, the data may suggest another view. This healthy dialogue, when it occurs in a professional and mutually respectful manner, is important to continued growth. On a more micro-level, with the population aging, one of our greatest opportunities (and associated challenges) will be serving more people for a longer period of time.

Adam is the son of an Italian immigrant and grew up speaking both English and Italian. He loves to cook and borrows his style from his Nonna, who when asked about how to make something would always say, "Non lo so (I don't know)…how much I put in there. Un po 'di questo e un po' di quello (A pinch of this and a pinch of that)."

"Positive first! A great opportunity for our field comes from our passion and ability to help those who experience intolerance and bigotry. We are well positioned to help guide society into a world built on understanding and acceptance."
"I think one of the greatest challenges affecting the practice of psychology today has to do with parity, both in the professional sense and in the business sense. I can't tell you how many great psychologists I've meet all over the country who continue to struggle with maintaining quality of care in an era where reimbursement rates are so low."

As the Q-global® Product Specialist here at Pearson, I work with both new and existing Q-global users to make sure they are getting the most out of the system. Many of these individuals are already familiar with our previous scoring systems, such as Q-Local™ and ASSIST™; however, for some individuals, Q-global is their first step into digital administration and scoring. When working with new Q-global users, I like to work with both the designated administration, or Account Owner, and the practitioners. Talking with administrators, I am able to learn more about their organization and what they are looking for in Q-global. From here I assist them in structuring their account, demonstrate how to add the practitioners to the account, and walk them through how to manage their purchased inventory. After working with administrators, I like to spend some time with the account practitioners and walk them through the system, demonstrating how Q-global will blend into their assessment process.

As a teacher and Cogmed specialist, I recognize the importance of working memory in learning. Because of this critical link, I believe that we need to provide young children with skill building and intervention as early as possible to enhance this key foundation. While a specific learning disability or working memory deficit isn't usually determined in the early primary school years (e.g. Preschool, Kindergarten, 1st grade), I think there is great opportunity to screen and provide early learning experiences and intervention to help children enhance their skills in this key area.

As the National Training Consultant for Q-interactive®, I visit with practitioners all over the country and help them make the transition to digital assessment. Many of these practitioners have administered the paper editions of our assessments for decades and find the digital systems daunting at first glance. Though cognizant of the many benefits of digital assessment, some are concerned with the technical hurdles to efficiently administer our tests. However, the design of our digital interfaces and corresponding support resources enable our customers to overcome these challenges. Setup of Q-interactive takes about 20 minutes and after a few practice administrations, our customers are good to go! A few common refrains after just a few administrations are, "It was easier than I thought!" and "I can't imagine ever going back to paper!"
